One of my favorite places to visit is the Louwman Museum, which I visit a few times a year. I went there again this weekend for the temporary exposition called “Style Icons”. This month they have 16 very exclusive coachbuilt or prototype Alfa Romeo’s on show. For Alfisti it’s like walking into heaven, with some of the brand’s finest cars together in one room.
Pierre Orsini, a Renault Works Rally Driver, purchased this SZ in 1961. Pierre campaigned the car with much success in international events for the next three years. First in its original red colour, then following a front end crash repair, he changed the colour to metallic blue with two white stripes.
the photo is approx. from the seventies. car has a Hungarian licence plate. looks pretty much like a 6C 2500 SS Touring, but could not find the very same body on the Interwebs.
asked for help from Pál Négyesi, greatest source on Hungarian automobile past. he confirmed it to me and gave some more details, plus sent me the lower pic. the car is from 1942, and got somehow to Hungary. after some racing past it became part of the collection of one of the biggest veteran-car guys, and rumors say, he recently sold it to Russia. (which I think is really a shame :-( )
